Confusing words: Can you and Could you

“Can you … ” and “Could you … ” are (obviously) used in questions. Sometimes, “Can you … ” is used to ask if someone has the ability to do something:

But “Can you … ” is also used when you’re asking someone to do something. In those cases, “Can you … ” and “Could you … ” mean the same thing, but “Could you … ” is considered more polite.
